Start Reading - Teach Your Child to Read!

Some helpful tips.

  • Go through the first book BEFORE starting to read with your child.
  • Make sure you have 20 to 30 minutes of uninterupted time.
  • Read through the example below.
  • Have fun!

What Learning to Read for the First Time Could Be Like

You: Hi! Want to learn to read?

Child: Ok.

What's that? (Pointing to the cartoon Bee)

Bee

It's a bee!

That's right! And do you know what that is next to it?

No.

It's the big letter "B".

What's That?

Bees

Bee!

Very good! Let's count the Bees together.

One Bee, Two Bees.

One Bee, Two Bees, Three Bees.

That was easy. What's that?

Eye

It's an eye.

Very good, and guess what that is next to it?

I don't know.

It's the letter "I".

Do you know what you do with 2 eyes?

See

Look?

Yes, that's right. You also see with two eyes, don't you?

Yeah.

This is the word "See". Do you see the two eyes?

Yes.

What's that?

Bee

Bee!

Yes, very good!

Now let's read it together. (Pointing at each word)
